Albert Wallis's Story
Sixty? I guess we are grownups now, though I continue to nurture a rather deep streak of childishness. Alive & well in Boston residing in the neighborhood home my wife grew up in. Our son, a high school junior, is just on the cusp of engaging in thoughts of college.
I have always been an attorney. Although I will always think of myself as a legal services anti-poverty lawyer (which is what I did for the first third of my career), I've been in private practice, academics and government (as Boston's Corporation Counsel -- i.e., head of the city law department -- under two mayors) and now have what ...Expand for more
my peers think of as the best job in law, as the Executive Director of the Brown Rudnick Center for the Public Interest.
Although my family moved from Freeport decades ago, and I haven't been back since, my memories and feelings of those times remain vivid and important. In is possible for me to imagine that if I ever do get back to Freeport, I could find my way into FHS and the class of '66, all of us, would still be there, walking the halls, agonizing over which clique we are in or not in and simultaneously terrified and ecstatically eager to get on with our sure-to-be remarkable future's.
